Tonneau

Tonneau is the singer/songwriter name of our music collective, making songs that explore stories of love, family, work, and life. The music can be categorised as singer/songwriter, folk, indie-pop, and perhaps even psalms. 

For me, creating music is a wonderful experience in the sense that it is a grasping of something greater than the song itself. It is an awakening of hidden feelings, forgotten memories and deeper longings. It brings me peace, brings me closer to God, if you like. I want this to be reflected in my songs: uplifting, peace-making, and spiritually enriching. 

But often I am not at peace, far from that. And much is to be bettered. It is this unruly, not-quite-there-yet life that I write songs about and in which they are created. Annoyingly, it is also what keeps me from creating songs. Crafting genuine songs and great lyrics is already hard enough. I need to focus, to balance. This has been my journey for long. 

Fortunately, I am not alone in this endeavor. Many others recognise this balancing struggle in all kinds of ways. Collaborating with other talented musicians is helping me a lot. I feel fortunate to have them join me and finish songs together.I have many more song ideas that need to be shaped, recorded, and published.
