Lyrics

You want me to open up every door You want me to give you more and more And yes, I already got the clue We should do like lovers do My heart is burning down tonight I do not want to get things right I’m thinking of getting away from you We should do like lovers do Come love, come love Love me like the very first time Come love, come love Seize both day and night

The story behind the song

"Like Lovers Do” is an intimate, acoustic song about the tension between pride and love—the struggle between knowing what’s right and letting emotions take over. I wrote it after an argument with my spouse, feeling both the distance and the deep longing for closeness. The song reflects that emotional push and pull, the frustration, and the desire to reconnect.

Ton van Dijk (vocals and guitar), Jan van der Hoeven (bass, pizzicato violin), Alies van der Hoeven (violins), and René de Vries – Dufry Music (vibraphone). Ton created the initial song structure, melody, and guitar chords, while Jan and Alies helped shape it into its final version. René, who also mixed the song, added the vibraphone, bringing a beautiful texture to the track.
