Amsterdam-based trio Tonneau releases “O Father, O Mother” — a haunting, biographical single about the weight of raising children and the struggle to keep it all together. 


Built on a broken-sounding piano, layered falsetto vocals, and cold violin, the track marks a deliberate departure from the band’s folk roots into alternative rock and soundscape territory. 

The song started as a prayer at the piano, until singer Ton van Dijk discovered his daughter had been singing along in the same room without him knowing — turning a spiritual song into a deeply personal one about parenthood, exhaustion, and carrying on.
